Amber Chalmers, Rolling Hills Elementary fifth grade science TAP Mentor Teacher, has been appointed to serve on the State Review Panel for Proclamation 2014 where she will review and evaluate instructional materials submitted for the November 2013 adoption by the State Board of Education.
According to TEA’s description, Proclamation 2014 calls for the review of instructional materials in the following areas: Science, Grades K-12; Science (Spanish), Grades K-5; Math, Grades K-8; Math (Spanish), Grades K-5; and Technology Applications, Grades K-12. The review panel is charged with evaluating instructional materials to determine coverage of the TEKS and to identify any information errors. The vital role of the panel is to ensure that the State Board of Education (SBOE) - adopted instructional materials used to educate students and to enhance the knowledge of educators of great integrity. The materials adopted under Proclamation 2014 are scheduled for use in schools beginning with the 2014-2015 school year.
